Grant Policies


  • Grants will be made only to organizations and groups that are qualified under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code, or to churches, schools, governmental units or to another Rotary Club.
  • Grants will not be made directly to individuals.
  • Normally grants will not be made to cover operational expenses or salaries.
  • Normally grants will be made only to support special, definitive projects by a qualified organization.


The foundation will accept applications for local projects serving the residents of Ingham, Eaton or Clinton counties. In general, project funding is for a 12-month period, however multi-year requests will be considered. Projects that received funding from the foundation during the prior two years are not eligible in this grant cycle.

Project Focus Areas (must address one or more of the following): 

  • local projects serving residents of Ingham, Eaton and Clinton counties
  • project serving an underserved or disadvantaged population
  • project enhancing cultural or economic elements of the community
  • project demonstrating a unique or emerging need unmet by another organization

Applications will not be accepted for:

  • unrestricted capital campaigns
  • endowments
  • unrestricted operational funds
  • debts
  • individuals
  • projects funded within the last two years
  • non, tax-exempt organizations

 Approx Range of Grant Awards: $500 to $15,000


The Rotary Club of Lansing Foundation will accept applications requesting funding for international projects that are submitted by any member of the Lansing Rotary Club. Projects relating to one of the following focus areas, which represent Rotary International’s goals, will be considered:

Project Focus Areas: 

  • peace and conflict prevention/resolution
  • disease prevention and treatment
  • water and sanitation
  • maternal and child health
  • basic education and literacy
  • economic and community development
