Zoom Meeting February 26, 2021

WHEN DOES THE MEETING START?  Here is the schedule:
  • At 12:00 pm the Zoom room will be available for our "breakout room/virtual tables" to have a conversation with other members.  President Julie will draw us all back into the main meeting room at 12:28 pm
     
  • At 12:30 pm the meeting will be called to order
     
  • At approximately 12:55 p.m. we will introduce our speaker
     
  • Speaker will start at approximately 1:00 p.m.
     
  • Meeting concludes at 1:30 p.m.

Biography for Kelli Ellsworth-Etchison 
Kelli Ellsworth Etchison has over 35 years of experience in the credit union industry, including more than 30 years with LAFCU, where she advanced from a loan interviewer to her current dual role as chief marketing officer and chief diversity officer. Kelli is charged with leading an award-winning marketing team to develop and support strategic initiatives through results-oriented campaigns that provide consumer value; she’s also responsible for corporate objectives and outcomes as well as working to establish diversity, equity and inclusion as shared values within LAFCU and in the community.
 
A strong advocate of education, Kelli has spearheaded LAFCU’s college scholarship programs, providing tens of thousands of dollars to high school seniors and non-traditional students, such as women entering and re-entering the workforce, first responders, and active and veteran members of the military and their families.
 
She has won numerous awards and honors, including the Community Service Award from the Lansing Regional Chamber of Commerce; the National Sojourner Truth Meritorious Service Award by the National Association of Negro Business and Professional Women’s Clubs Inc. Greater Lansing Area Club chapter; and the C. Colton Carr Exemplary Volunteer of the Year Service Award from the YMCA of Metropolitan Lansing; The Michigan Credit Union League named Kelli Credit Union Youth Advocate of the Year.
 
In the community helping people is where you’ll most often find Kelli. Throughout her career, she has served a variety of organizations with enthusiasm and commitment including Lansing Community College Foundation, Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Commission of Mid-Michigan, Lansing Promise Foundation, the Study Committee for the City of East Lansing Independent Police Oversight Commission and the YMCA of Metropolitan Lansing where she was the first Black female selected as board chair. Additionally, Kelli was recently appointed to serve on Governor Whitmer’s Black Leadership Advisory Council.
 
A native of Pontiac, Kelli earned a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Northwood University and an associate degree from LCC. She also completed the CUES Strategic Growth Institute’s Mergers and Acquisitions program through The University of Chicago School of Business Booth Executive Education.
 
More fun facts about Kelli: she once made a hole-in-one and won a new car; and she and her dance partner won a Dancing with the Local Stars competition to benefit a local charity.
 
Kelli and her husband, Robin, have three adult children and four grandchildren. She loves to golf and spend time with family and friends. She has a sincere passion for life, and her enthusiasm is truly contagious.
Biography for Tonya C. Bailey 
A woman of many talents!  Tonya C. Bailey is a sought-after conference speaker, workshop presenter and personal development coach/trainer.  She is an amazing corporate consultant and executive educational advisor with over 20 years of experience in higher education and in the non-profit sector.  She combines heartfelt inspiration, laugh-out-loud humor, and practical strategies to drive change and success for numerous organizations and teams around the globe.
 
As an inspirational speaker that provides an unforgettable experience for all ages, diverse organizations, and groups.  Tonya's style connectivity reaches audiences with her expertise, passion for others to succeed and her own leadership secrets which she candidly shares that lifts and inspires others to their personal best.  
 
Born and raised in Flint, MI where she attended Luke M. Powers Catholic High School and graduated from Flint Northwestern High School.  Tonya is a graduate of the University of Evansville, Indiana where she received her Bachelor of Science Degree in Mass Communication and her Master's degree in Public Administration from the University of Michigan Rackham Graduate School.  Tonya has completed her Ph.D studies in Educational Leadership from Central Michigan University.  The focus of her research is measuring sense of belonging among first-generation African American students at predominately white institutions and the role high impact practices play in their belongingness and retention.  Currently, Tonya serves as the Chief Diversity Officer at Lansing Community College.  Tonya is happily married and the proud mother of eight children.
 
Biography for Jimmy E. Greene
Jimmy E. Greene is the CEO & President of Associated Builders and Contractors of Michigan (ABC).  he's responsible for the Public Policy and Government Affairs in Michigan for ABC Members.  Prior to this role he served as CEO and President of Associated Builders & Contractors, Greater Michigan Chapter and The Greater Michigan Construction Academy companies that advocates, educates and trains for over 300 builders and contractors in 36 counties.  He is the first Black CEO in ABC's 60-year history.
 
He was the Founder, Owner, & CEO of Total Solutions Group in Saginaw, a firm specializing in Telecommunications & Technology Project Consulting.  Prior to starting his own technology consulting company, Mr. Greene assisted in the originatin of two new local telephone providers serving as the Vice President of Sales and Marketing for Winn Telecom, and as the Regional Sales Manager for McLeodUSA.
 
Born and raised in Flint, Michigan.  A graduate of Flint Southwestern High School he attended Washtenaw Community College, Delta College, and is a graduate of the College of Banking & Finance.  He is the father of six beautiful children and two granddaughters.
Biography for Jon Horford
Jon launched and owns multiple small businesses. A former college and professional basketball player, Jon has dedicated thousands of volunteer hours coaching and mentoring young athletes. He co-chairs Grand Ledge United, serves on the Governor's Black Leadership Advisory Subcommittee on Health, and is on the Eaton County Parks and Recreation Commission. Jon earned his bachelor's degree from the University of Michigan and is completing his master's degree with the University of Florida.
