The Centennial Project selected by the Lansing Rotary is Impression 5 Science Center's new 2--story, permanent exhibit within the Center - a Water Room that will allow children of all ages, families, and visitors to "Play - Create - Challenge" themselves while learning about and exploring the science of water.

 

In terms of design, the room will have areas where water flows, twists and turns through the exhibit, and where an Archimedes screw is worked to move water to an upper level.  There will even be an apparatus that shoots water 30 feet into the air!  It will fit with Impression 5's effort to meet educational objectives through play.  It will connect content to education and present a challenging environment that will create interaction between families and visitors.

 

The exhibit will be a permanent addition to a Center visited by over 100,000 people a year and take 12 to 16 months to complete once funding is committed.  Lansing Rotary's commitment of $250,000 towards the $430,000 total project cost carries naming rights for the Room and the opportunity to tell Rotary's "Service Above Self" story, particularly in the area of Clean Water.  Impression 5 also has invited our input in design and construction and, should we be so inclined, Impression 5 could use our help in the construction of the new exhibit.
