Rotary Club of Lansing is unique in that it has a special committee dedicated to supporting international projects — especially those with ties back to Lansing.  Each of our international projects has an involved Lansing Rotarian sponsor.

Our 2017-2018 International Grants that were dispersed:

  1. Guatemala Dental Clinic – This project focuses on providing dental care to 600 children ages five to fifteen from low-income in Ciudad Vieja located ouside of Antigua, Sacatepequez in the Mayan highlands of Guatemala.  Rotary Sponsor:  John Person for $2,500.00
  2. Kannagi Nagar Toilets – This is a free tuition center on the sides of busy roads.  It is now housed in a large shed and has increased to more than 300 students with no toilet.  The proposal is to build a toilet with 3 stalls.  Sponsor:  Umakanth  for $2,500.00
  3. Puerto Rico Hurricane Relief – These funds would go to the Juan Rotary Club to help with the devastation due to hurricane Maria.  Sponsor:  Kevin Schumacher  for $3,000.00
  4. Rural Women Economic Empowerment – This project will be carried out in Wum by Bihndumlem Humanitarian Foundation  to help equip 100 women with knowledge on improved agricultural techniques and to help increase their incomes.  Sponsor is:  Peter Achuonjei for $4,000.00
  5. South Sudanese School – The RSSVP is a registered 501© 3 and are trying to build a public school in South Sudan. The last 4 years Lansing Rotary has donated to improve the lives of survivors of the civil war in the village of Majok-Chedhiop.  Rotary Sponsor:  Irv Nichols for $5,000.00
  6. Ghana Water Well – To drill and install a well in the Prabonso Village in Ghana.  They are currently using polluted water from a river.  Rotary sponsor:  Al Yambor for $3,500.00
  7. Hope Through Health – To help fund healthcare centers thru northern Togo focusing on HIV/AIDS care.  Rotary Sponsor:  Pam Miklavcic for $4,732.00
