The Birthday Committee is responsible for organizing the contributions to the Rotary Club of Lansing Foundation that each member is expected to make annually during the month of their birthday. The Birthday Committee's responsibilities include:

  • Coordinate with the Rotary Club Administrator the proper date to recognize Rotary birthday for the next month.
  • Designate a Rotarian whose birthday is during the next month to be the birthday chair for that month. The Birthday Committee has historically asked the newer members of the Club to be the chair for the month.
  • After the birthday chair has been designated, the Birthday Committee sends out a detailed letter to the birthday chair. This letter includes detailed instructions for the birthday chair, pre-addressed mailing labels of the Rotarians who have a birthday during the month and examples of letters sent out by prior birthday chairs.
  • Inform the Rotary Club administrator as to who has agreed to be birthday chair for the month.
  • Keep a record of previous birthday chairs to aid in the selection of future birthday chairs.

It is our goal to get as high a percentage of members giving as possible. We will do information presentations so that members understand that their birthday donations support the marvelous signature projects funded by the Foundation on behalf of the Rotary Club of Lansing.
