Amber Paxton has worked for the City of Lansing for over 10 years as the first director of its Office of Financial Empowerment. The OFE is part of the Department of Neighborhoods Arts & Citizen Engagement, and oversees four programs for Lansing residents: The Lansing Financial Empowerment Center, which offers free one-on-one financial counseling; Lansing SAVE, a children's savings account for post-secondary education which auto-enrolls students at Kindergarten; Bank On Lansing, which seeks to assist the unbanked and underbanked in returning to the financial mainstream; and a wrap-around services program for returning citizens called OS Reentry.
 
Amber is a proud graduate of University of Michigan-Flint. She has three grown children and two perfect grandkids, and when not hanging out with them or working, is usually knitting.
