Rotarians Doing Great Things: Thank you to Rotarians that have already responded to the annual holiday letter and have given their contributions. Special Music: featured Kelly Stuible-Clark with songs sung from Thoroughly Modern Millie and Cabaret. Thanks to our Chair of the Month, Rich Howard, who provided the introduction of Paula Cunningham (AARP Michigan), Teresa Kmetz (Capital Area United Way), Pam Miklavcic (The Davies Project) and Carmen Turner (Boys & Girls Club of Lansing). The group spoke on "Non-Profit Leadership." Highlights include: ● Nonprofits are more than “thermometers and grants,” they are connectors among people, resources and collaborative opportunities. ● Nonprofits serve large constituencies but may exist as small to large agencies. There are infinite models of how they are run and operate. ● The work of nonprofits is as diverse as its constituents. Q & A included the challenges in getting to where they are in their current position; how they define leadership; and what can Rotary do to encourage more nonprofit, women leaders to join in membership? Personal stories of impact on the community were also shared. President Hansen shared that in lieu of a speaker’s gift, we will make a donation in the speakers’ honor to a local organization through our Lansing Rotary Foundation which has, over the history of our club, given in excess of $2,000,000 to local organizations and projects. NEXT WEEK: We will meet at the Lansing Center and on Zoom at noon on November 12, our speaker will be Chris Jackson, Owner & President Lansing Pharaohs.
