Please help find a host family for one of the three students listed below. This placement would be for the 2025-26 school year. It is urgent that we find placements by May 15, 2025, to ensure that all the paperwork is completed, so students are able to acquire the J-1 VISA for their secondary school educational exchange.
Host families do NOT need to be Rotarians. See attached information on Requirements to be a Host Family at the bottom of the Rotogram.
Students arrive in August, about one week before school starts, and stay the full academic year. The Rotary program places students in homes for one semester only, and moves the student to another host family for the second semester and with the same school district. This allows the exchange student to experience different family lifestyles. If you know a family willing to host one of these students and/or for more information, please contact Margie Haas, Rotary Youth Exchange chairperson. Contact: haasmargie@gmail.com; cell: 269-838-3392.
Yuzu from Japan, girl. Age: 16, 8 months upon arrival in August. She loves reading, watching movies, and science classes.
Holger from Denmark, boy. Age 16,3 months upon arrival in August. Holger has had 7 years of English and speaks well. Holger lives on a 1500 acre pig farm and likes soccer.
Simon from Slavic Republic, boy. Age 16, 3 months upon arrival in August. Simon has had 10 years of studying English. He likes to read books and historical magazines.

Thursday we met at the Irish Pub. I was the first one there. “I thought it’d be great, you know? Have some time alone with my thoughts ... turns out I don’t have as many thoughts as you’d think.” (Joey, Friends). We were reminded that it feels good to shut off that fight or flight switch and sit idle, even if for just an hour, and go to a place where everyone knows your name. (Cheers!) It was so pleasant to sit down, and say, “hey, How you doin’?” (Joey, Friends). After a sweet libation or two, conversation and company become more interesting.
People would say things like: “Those are my everyday balloons“ (Cosmo, Seinfeld); “It’s not fair people are seated first come, first served. It should be based on who’s hungriest.” (Elaine, Seinfeld); “They were born on the wrong side of the wall. Doesn’t make them monsters.” (Jon Snow, GOT); “your outies is a friend to children, to the elderly, and to the insane” (Ms. Casey, Severance) and “bullies are nothing but Bull and lies” (Devon, Severance); “My delts are embarrassingly good today” (Dylan, Severance). All in all another fun social.
