Version A:

As is the case with most outdoor weddings, it was a glorious day with joy in plentiful abundance. The guests straggled in, more or less on time for the festivities. Most dressed in their Sunday goin’ to meeting attire although there were a few (alright, me, it was just me) sporting a more tatterdemalion garb. Some came alone and others with their plus ones, giving rise to a not insignificant amount of neck craning, chatter and speculation. The perspicacious groom of course was in rare form. No doubt this will be problematic for the coquettish Rotary bride who is always trying to corral and restrain him from repeating exploits of his dubious past. Good luck with that! Of course, it wouldn’t be a Rotary wedding if there wasn’t some controversy, which happened when there was an angry mayor in the back room, but nowhere to be found at the reception. The nonpareil bar food buffet was first breached by none other than Chris Holman (I’m kidding, it was probably Jeff Crippen). Folks hung around for an hour or two demonstrating an unrelenting propensity for competitive loquaciousness. Not a single guest was defenestrated and nobody stumbled home. The consensus is building that this rotary soiree thing is working out.

Version B:

It was warm enough for the garage door to be left open at the Lansing Brewing Company for our monthly Rotary Social. Many Rotarians attended, bouncing from table to table. They ate with their fingers and forks. LBC ran out of Angry Mayor IPA. The food and beer were adequate to the task. Lots of interesting conversations. No party crashers. I think people like the social.
